Masky x Reader<\b>
You walk down the crowded cobblestone streets of Venice. Music played from various
bands, unseen over the tops of towering plumage from elaborate masks, and the chatter from
hundreds of people surrounding you filled the loud atmosphere. Flashing lights on shops and
decorative floats were only now becoming visible as the sun began to set.
You were finally where you wanted to be, in the center of the bustling Carnivale
celebration in Italy. You had saved up for years to be able to go to Italy and, at long last, you
had saved enough. It was pleasant here, and you had wanted your friends to come along, but
all had given excuses and wished for you to have fun.
You fiddled with the string to your (fav. color) mask that covered your eyes. It was not
as flashy or as decorative as the masks other people that passed you by were wearing, but it
did help to blend you in with the crowd and merge you with the party spirit. The problem with it
was that the string was flimsy and loose and would keep catching your (color and style) hair
as you attempted to tie it back up. After some attempts, you were finally able to double knot
the crap out of that string and get the mask to stay in place.
As you drew your hands away from the complex knot you had just made, you were
pushed back and your arm jarred; snagging a piece of the string and loosening the knot. The
mask slip forward, hanging off your nose, as the tie managed to keep it from completely falling
off.
You scowl and turn to see a masked man looking back at you, an apologetic look in
his eyes as he spoke in a language you couldn’t identify. Though you could tell that it wasn’t
Italian. You just shook your head and waved the apologises off with a smile. The man smiled
back and continued on his way.
You fixed the mask again (this time standing out of the flow of people) and watched
some of the parade floats pass by your position as the masked and costumed people on them
threw confetti at the celebrating people in the crowd. It had definitely been a fun day, but it
was exhausting standing on your feet and walking for hours as you had. Not to mention you
were growing hungry the more the sky darkened.
Wandering more through the crowd and passing a plaza full of dancing people, you
came across a small shop that sold (fav. drink). Your favorite drink. You reached for your (fav.
pant) pocket to grab your wallet, you wanted to know if you had brought enough. As you
slipped your hand into the pocket, you realized that what should have been there was not.
You felt panic rising as you checked the other places where your wallet could be. Other
pocket? No. Shoes? No. Bra? Nope, not there either.
You groaned in frustration and dragged your fingers through your hair. ‘I swear I left
the hotel with it.” You thought, ‘Could I have dropped it?’
You backtracked a bit; scanning the ground for the lost wallet. You didn’t see it.
You sighed and leaned against the side of a brick building. You were tired, you were
hungry, and your wallet was missing. This dream trip was now starting to seem like a trip from
Hell. You should’ve remembered that there were pickpockets and many chances to lose your
wallet in this large gathering of people, but you were just too excited to see the sights.
‘At least I kept my credit cards and other money in the hotel room.’ You tried to think
positively. ‘If I go back and get them I’ll be able to go to one of the restaurants close by.’
You pushed away from the wall and began to walk back toward your hotel when a
hand tapped your shoulder. You turned around and saw a man with a simple white mask with
black lips and drawn-on eyebrows, an orange sweater, jeans, and shaggy short brown hair.
From what you could see through the mask, his eyes were light blue.
“E-Excuse m-me, Miss. You d-dropped this a while back.” The man stuttered in a shy
fashion as he held out what looked to be your wallet.
You smiled gratefully and took the wallet from him, checking the picture inside to make
sure it was yours. You slipped it back into your pocket and kept your hand close to it.
“Thank you so much! I thought someone had stolen it!”
“Y-Your welcome, M-Miss.” He shifted a bit, as if uncomfortable with the fact that he
was speaking to you.
‘Shy man.’ You thought as you watched him. “Are you from around here?”
“N-No. I-I’m visiting a friend.”
“I’m visiting too! My friends couldn’t come along though, they were all suddenly too
busy to come. So...Is your friend around here?” You claimed trying to get the nice man that
returned your wallet to you to just relax a little. No need to be shy, you weren’t going to bite.
“I-I lost him a while back. W-We were g-going to meet around here.”
“You need help finding him?”
“N-No!” He shook his head and waved his hands in front of him in the ‘no’ fashion. “I-I
can find him on my own. He’s around here, I k-know.”
“Well. If you need help finding him you can ask.” You offered, wanting to be of some
help to repay the man.
“Thank you, b-but I don’t need help. I-I can find him.”
“Okay. Offer ‘s there if you want it.” You rubbed the back of your neck. “That’s an
interesting mask you’re wearing. Do you come to Carnivale often?”
“No. I don’t and thank you, y-your mask is nice too. D-Do you often come here,
Miss…”
“Oh! Just call me (your name) and, no, this is my first time coming here. I’ve wanted to
come for a long time and this is the first chance I’ve gotten! It’s so exciting! The lights, the
food, the parade, it’s all so cool!”
“Y-Yeah. I find the decorations and food to be my f-favorites.” The man said, lightening
up just a little.
“Yes! Have you tried the pasta? It’s to die for! And the masks and costumes are
amazing! There were these two people I saw with all white puffy clothes and white masks and
they looked just like ghosts!”
“G-Ghosts?” The man seemed a little nervous at the mention of ghosts, “That does
sound impressive.”
“And there was this other person I saw with a dark blue mask and black stuff looking to
be oozing from the eyeholes. It was disgusting but still pretty cool.”
The man fell silent and seemed to freeze up. You figured he wasn’t that good with
handling gross stuff, but that mask you had seen wasn’t that terrifying.
“Are you okay?” You asked when the silence became uncomfortable.
He shook his head and from the twinkle in his eyes, you assumed he was smiling.
“Yeah. T-That mask does sound pretty disgusting. Hope I get to see it.”
You smiled and laughed. Your stomach rumbled and you noticed how dark it had
gotten. The lights from the shops and parades being some of the few things that lit up the
streets almost giving it the appearance of daylight.
“Are you hungry?” You asked the man.
“W-What?”
“Would you like something to eat? There’s this great restaurant not far from here.”
The man shook his head. “No, thank you. I can’t accept your offer.”
“Please. You gave me my wallet back and I feel like I have to repay you some way.”
You pleaded. You just felt bad when someone did something nice for you and you didn’t
return it in some way.
“No. I h-have to go find my friend.”
“Please. At least just come have a glass of wine with me.” You gave him puppy dog
eye through your mask.
You heard him sigh and mumble something. “All right. Just a glass. I really must get to
my friend.”
You smiled and grabbed his hand, practically dragging him toward the restaurant.
It's a Masky x Reader thing. I do not own you or the Creepypastas.
If you like it I'll write more.
If the websites I visited are to be trusted then the saying anything can happen at the carnival comes from the pranks the some people play around this celebration.
